SANDY — A Murray woman died after getting accidentally caught in an industrial-size mixer Wednesday at the bakery inside Reams Food Store, police said.

Carmen "Jackie" Lindhardt, 45, died on scene as a result of the industrial accident that occurred around 10 a.m., Sandy police said.

"In the process of working with that machine, she somehow got caught up and pulled into the machine," said Sandy Police Sgt. Dean Carriger.

Lindhardt, an employee at the Reams bakery, likely got her hand or a piece of clothing caught in the machinery, dragging her into the machine, Carriger said, though he noted an investigation into what happened is still ongoing.

The official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy to be performed no later than Thursday, according to Carriger.

Another woman working in the bakery heard Lindhardt scream and immediately ran to the machine and shut it off, the sergeant said.

Police, fire crews and workplace safety investigators all responded Wednesday to the grocery store, 8725 S. Highland Drive.
