One Colorado deputy celebrated his retirement in a way that's attracting attention online.

A YouTube video shows Deputy Tony Scherb doing the whip and the nae nae, dance moves popularized by Silentó's "Watch Me" music video, with some of his co-workers.

Scherb spent 29 years at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Jacqueline Kirby, media relations manager at the sheriff’s office, told the Deseret News that the elevator dance was inspired by a viral video of a Delaware police officer lip-syncing to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.”

Kirby said Scherb has a great sense of humor and was more than willing to be in the video.

The video, posted on the office’s Facebook page Friday, has over 6 million views.

“I don’t think any of us realized how far-reaching it would be, but with that said, we’re delighted,” Kirby said. “We’re delighted that people can see a different side of law enforcement — that we are fun, that we are human.”

During his time at the sheriff’s office, Scherb made significant contributions to the department, especially the DUI program. A Facebook post from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office praised his work.

“He is a quality individual — an amazing cop, an amazing family man, an amazing person,” Kirby said. “We’re going to miss everything about him, but his sense of humor the most.”
