SNYDERVILLE, Summit County — A wrong-way driver hit and killed another person on I-80 Monday night, police said.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said.

Royce said a full-size SUV was traveling east on I-80 about 8 p.m. when the driver crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a crossover SUV. The driver of the crossover SUV died at the scene of the accident, police said.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Park City Medical Center with serious injuries, but was expected to survive.

Royce said it was unknown if anyone else was in either vehicle.

Police did not release the name of either driver Monday night.
