Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a video on his Facebook page Monday in which he answered a young man’s question about missionary service.
The young man served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but returned home after four months due to mental health problems.
“I want you to take the dignity and the strength and the faith that came from your four months and cherish that forever,” Elder Holland said in the video. “I don’t want you to apologize for coming home. When someone asks you if you have served a mission, you say yes. You do not need to follow that up with, ‘But it was only four months.’ Just forget that part, and say yes you served a mission, and be proud of the time that you spent.”

The video is a preview of what will take place during Tuesday’s online Face to Face event. During the event, Sister Carole M. Stephens, first counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, and Elder Donald L. Hallstrom of the Seventy will join Elder Holland in answering questions submitted by young single adults.
The event is the first Face to Face event for young single adults. Previous Face to Face events have focused on LDS youths.
The Face to Face event will be broadcast online on March 8 at 6 p.m. MST. Young single adults can submit questions through YSAface2face.lds.org or by using #LDSface2face on social media.
