The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter began as fantasy book series. In 2001, full-length feature films were released for both. The films were successful, and each franchise released subsequent films. But do the two series have even more in common? BYUtv’s "Studio C" explores the similarities between The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter as the two worlds collide in one of the comedy show's new sketches, “Lord of the Potter.”

Professor Albus Dumbledore interrupts a conversation between Gandalf and Harry Potter and gives the pair a quiz to illustrate the similarities between the two series.

“Allow me to demonstrate. I will describe someone, and you tell me who you think it is,” Dumbledore says before posing a series of questions.

“Mischievous comic relief duo, always playing with fireworks?” he asks.

Fans of both series know the answer could be Merry and Pippin from The Lord of the Rings, but it could also be Fred and George Weasley from Harry Potter.

To explore all of the commonalities between the two series, watch the sketch on YouTube. The video was posted April 18 and has accumulated over 200,000 views.
