The Utah Jazz announced Monday that it was relocating the Idaho Stampede — its D-League affiliate — to Utah. The corresponding move was to rename the team the Salt Lake City Stars, which brings the state back to an historic era of professional hoops beginning in the 1970s.

Utah struggled for years to maintain a pro team before the Jazz came to town.
