ANTELOPE ISLAND STATE PARK — Park officials are inviting the public to a series of events during April.

On Friday, April 15, a park intern will lead a short hike (approximately 1 mile round trip) to learn about the soil around trails and how to keep trails looking beautiful. Hikers will meet at the upper Frary parking lot at 6 pm. Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water. There are no restroom facilities at the trailhead.

On Friday, April 22, at 8:30 p.m., curiosity seekers will get a chance to explore the Field Gar Ranch to see if it is haunted. Participants will be allowed to wander through the buildings looking for evidence of visitors from beyond the grave. They’ll also learn about the methods used to detect unexplained happenings. Bring a flashlight and camera. For more information call 801-649-5742.

On Saturday, April 23, Neil Paprocki of Hawkwatch International will give a presentation on short-eared owls at 5:30 p.m. in the visitor center. There will be a field trip afterward to try to see these gorgeous owls on the island.
