Twenty-five years ago, three students at Brigham Young University noticed the increasing popularity glee clubs and decided to form one.

Now, BYU Vocal Point has performed nationwide, including on NBC’s “The Sing-Off.” The group has reached international audiences through YouTube, and a new video on Vocal Point's channel celebrates the group's anniversary.

In the YouTube video, released Thursday, current and former members of Vocal Point perform a medley of hits from the past 25 years.

McKay Crockett, the artistic director for Vocal Point, arranged the song performed in the video. The song combines over 31 different songs. On Friday, Vocal Point will announce a contest on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see if anyone can identify all the songs in the video, according to Crockett.

A behind-the-scenes video gives a look at the process of creating the music video. The shoot for the video began at 5:30 a.m., with over 60 Vocal Point members and alumni attending.

“Today’s shoot is probably the biggest undertaking we’ve ever had on a Vocal Point video shoot before,” Crockett said in the video. “Only maybe 15 to 20 percent of the guys at our reunion have ever been in a music video, at least a Vocal Point music video.”

Many of the members who came to take part in the video and attend the reunion traveled from various parts of the country. With only one day to shoot the video, the group faced the additional challenges of a fire alarm going off during rehearsals and the building’s air conditioning being broken.

The result is a music video — filmed in one take — in which the various Vocal Point members compete to be Ruby Rogers’ next leading man. Sophia Osmond, a member of the famous Osmond family, plays Rogers.
