The Utah Jazz are getting a familiar but fresh new look.
The team will soon unveil a change in its primary and secondary logos — perhaps as early as Thursday — according to Uni-Watch.com.
The new main logo will be very similar to the current secondary logo, which includes the word JAZZ spelled out with a J note and basketball in navy blue with Kelly green, yellow and white trim. Because it’s now the primary logo, the word UTAH will sit above the double Zs.
The secondary logo will be a circle with the words UTAH JAZZ BASKETBALL inside and a blue, green, yellow and white basketball in the center.
The team will no longer use the logos with mountain peaks, which the Jazz have used in some variation since the 1996-97.
The Jazz have had their current logos and colors — with slight variations — since the 2010-11 season.
This new primary logo will resemble the franchise’s original logo, with some slight alterations and a major difference. When the Jazz moved to Utah in 1979, the primary logo had mardi gras colors from New Orleans of purple, green and gold.
Shirts with the Jazz's new primary and secondary logos were first leaked Wednesday morning on Twitter by @UniWatch.
