SALT LAKE CITY — Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, has appointed a new chief of staff, replacing Scott Parker, who accepted a full-time position as a member of the Washington D.C. temple staff for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Devin Wiser of Cache Valley will become the new chief of staff. Wiser graduated from Utah State University and received his Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law. Wiser's interactions with Bishop stem back to his work as an intern, staff assistant, legislative assistant, legislative director and deputy chief counsel for the House Committee on Natural Resources, of which Bishop is the chairman.
Bishop offered the following statement regarding Parker's departure:
“Scott took a gamble in helping my first campaign, for which I will always be grateful, and he has been a hard working and loyal chief of staff since we both came back here. It will be unusual walking by his office and seeing someone else there. This is an ideal opportunity for Scott to stay here close to family well after I am gone from Washington. I wish him well as he uses his considerable skills to serve the church.”
