SALT LAKE CITY — Brekkott Chapman has been given his release from the Runnin' Utes program. The former Roy High standout was a key contributor for the Utes men's basketball team for each of the past two seasons.
"(He) was looking to get back to the Roy area," Utah basketball coach Larry Krystkowiak told ESPN 700 radio on Friday. "Weber State is one of the schools I released him to. He has a new baby and family and some high school acquaintances were very important to him ... so there's a chance he might go to Weber (State)."
Chapman, who averaged 4.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and one assist per game as sophomore forward last season, is the third player to transfer from the Utes this offseason. Chris Reyes and Isaiah Wright are also leaving.
"We're still plugging along and trying to make the most of our roster," Krystkowiak added, lamenting a nationwide trend of transfers.
It's not a one-way street, however, as Krystkowiak confirmed that Lee (Texas) College combo guard Tim Coleman is joining the team.
"He's a super-tough kid," he said. "He's played through a lot injuries. He's a good player. You're going to like him."
