Soon-to-be citizens and guests stand to recite the Pledge of Allegiance during a naturalization ceremony at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Salt Lake City on Thursday. The ceremony recognized 17 children from seven countries — Belgium, Chad, Iran, Mexico, Nepal, the Russian Federation and Thailand — who have obtained citizenship through their parents. Some were adopted by U.S. citizen parents; others derived citizenship when their immigrant parents became naturalized citizens.
