BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON — Police on Saturday confirmed that 15-year-old Anya Ng died as a result of cliff jumping at Lake Mary near Brighton Resort.
The Sandy teenager jumped from a rock about 4 p.m. Friday and either leaped awkwardly or slipped, according to Unified police detective Ken Hansen. Her body hit the rocks on the shore and slid into the water.
Hansen said bystanders were unable to find Ng and the four friends she had been visiting the area with called to report the incident.

Ng's body was located about 8 p.m. a short distance from where she had jumped, about 25 feet above the shoreline.
