Another senseless mass shooting! This time in Orlando, with 49 dead and 53 fighting for their lives.
Guns kill 30,000 Americans each year. This equals the deaths of 10 World Trade Centers every year!
A big part of the solution would be to regulate guns like cars.
- Everyone would need to have training, take a test and have a license to own a gun.
- Every gun must be registered, just like every car must be registered to its owner.
- The sale of every gun must be tracked, just as a car title is tracked.
- The owner of every gun must have liability insurance to own a gun, just as car owners must have liability insurance. If someone gets killed or injured, the owner must be able to prove in court that the shooting was justified. If not, they would be fully liable financially and legally.
- Automatic weapons and large magazines would not be legal for the average owner. In car terms — a person cannot drive a “Formula One” race car on city streets.
None of the above would prevent anyone from owning and a gun for hunting or for self-defense. Mark Rothacher
