HEBER CITY — The Wasatch County School Board has hired Paul Sweat as the district's new superintendent. Sweat will assume the position on Friday, July 1.
Sweat most recently served as the district’s director of secondary education. Earlier in his career he taught math and driver’s education before becoming assistant principal and athletic director at Wasatch High School. He was principal of Wasatch High for five years before moving to the district office.
Sweat received his undergraduate degree from BYU and his master’s degree from Utah State University. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Utah.
“We are so pleased to make this appointment. We know Paul well. He has been the driving force behind some of our most significant academic programs during the past several years,” Mark Davis, school board president, said in a statement. “As we look to the future, we anticipate continued academic excellence under (his) leadership.”
Sweat will take over for Terry Shoemaker, who who has taken a job with the Utah State School Board Association.
