On June 1, the Mormon Channel released a series of videos featuring children telling Bible stories in their own words. The stories explained by the children include the widow’s mite, Christ healing a man on the Sabbath and Christ’s birth. The children also explains topics such as the Atonement and the character of Jesus Christ.
The videos are available on mormonchannel.org and YouTube.
"The Good Samaritan: a Bible story for children"
“In this story, a Jewish man was traveling on a dangerous road through the hills when thieves attacked him. They hurt him, took his clothes, and left him by the side of the road to die. Two men passed by him on the road, but they didn’t do anything to help.
“Then a Samaritan man came by. The Samaritans and the Jews didn’t get along, but that didn’t stop the Good Samaritan from helping the man. The Samaritan washed the man’s wounds, put him on his mule, and took him to an inn. He paid the innkeeper money to care for the wounded man,” according to the description below the video.
"The Atonement: a Bible story for children"
“Before he died on the cross, Jesus prayed to God in the Garden of Gethsemane on our behalf. Jesus’s suffering for our sins in Gethsemane and on the cross at Calvary is called the Atonement. He suffered for us so that we can be made clean and return to live with our Heavenly Father. By following him, we can honor his sacrifice,” according to the description below the video.
"The widow’s mite: a Bible story for children"
“In this story, Jesus was at the temple, watching people donate money for the church. Many rich people gave a lot of money. A poor widow gave two pieces of money called 'mites.' It wasn’t very much, but it was all she had to give. Jesus told his friends that the widow had given more to God than all the rich people had given,” according to the description below the video.
