FARMINGTON — A Clinton man was sentenced to prison Tuesday for sexually abusing four young girls from his neighborhood.
Corey Lee VanLare, 36, was ordered Tuesday to serve three concurrent terms of one to 15 years in prison with a fourth sentence of one to 15 years running consecutively. VanLare pleaded guilty in April to four second-degree felony counts of sexual abuse of a child.
The charges were reduced from first-degree felonies as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
The home where VanLare lived with his wife and children was a hangout for neighborhood kids known for its lax rules, according to police.
Four of the victims, who were between the ages of 7 and 17 at the time, told police VanLare touched them inappropriately while they were at his house between 2004 and 2008, according to charging documents. Some of the victims reported multiple instance of abuse, including during sleepovers at VanLare's home.
At the time of VanLare's arrest in October, police said they believed Vanlare had been abusing neighborhood girls for at least the past 10 years and that there were additional victims who had yet to be identified.
VanLare lived in the 3100 West block of 2300 North in Clinton and also lived in another city in Davis County in the past 10 years, police said.
