The popular rock band, Chicago, released a love song, “Hard to Say I’m Sorry” in 1982. Today, 34 years later, Utah’s GENTRI performed and uploaded a cover of the song to YouTube.
“In this month's episode of ‘GENTRI Covers,’ we're throwing it back a few decades with a cover by one of the longest-running and best-selling groups of all time – Chicago,” reads the description below the video.
Formed in 1967, Chicago is one of the “most successful pop/rock ‘n’ roll groups in history" and "the highest charting American band in Billboard Magazine’s list of Top 100 artists of all time, coming in at #13,” according to the band’s official website.
The three members of GENTRI live, work and frequently perform in Utah. The release of GENTRI’s Chicago cover was timely because Chicago performed live in concert Tuesday at Sandy Amphitheater, and Wednesday at Kenley Amphitheater in Layton. Chicago was the headlining band for this year’s Summer Nights With the Stars concert series, presented by the Davis Arts Council.
GENTRI asks fans to write suggestions for future covers in the comments section below its YouTube video.
