Coldplay’s Chris Martin and his son Moses love “Back to the Future," and when Moses asked his dad to play something from their favorite film at the band’s New Jersey concert on Sunday, his dad happily obliged.
The father/son duo’s dreams came true when Michael J. Fox, the actor who played Marty McFly in “Back to the Future,” came onstage with Coldplay to perform the Penguins' "Earth Angel" and Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode.” Fox had performed those two songs in the film in 1985.
"That's our dream come true. Thank you, Michael," Martin said after the performance of the two songs. "What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful man."
According to a Rolling Stone article, Fox played a small guitar solo in “Earth Angel,” but seemed more comfortable playing the fast-paced “Johnny B. Goode”
“Though Fox appears to be playing guitar in the fan-favorite ‘Back to the Future’ scene – and even studied with a coach to make the fretwork look realistic – he technically simulated the parts, with a professional guitarist dubbing on the finished solo,” read the Rolling Stone article.
