A special session of Warriors Basketball Camp at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, featuring Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, ended on Tuesday.
Campers ranging from 9 to 16 years old had the “opportunity to work on their game, improve their skills and learn from the best player on the planet,” according to NBA.com.
“To bring it down here to Hawaii, I know there’s a lot of Warriors supporters down here,” Curry said in an article from Hawaiian news station KHON2. “They get to watch all of our games with the time difference and all of that, so being able to come down and share, to embrace Dub Nation in Hawaii, I think that’s a really cool experience.”
Curry, the back-to-back NBA most valuable player, took time to play a few of the campers one-on-one. BleacherReport.com uploaded a video of Curry breaking “a camper’s ankles with a ruthless crossover.”
“I know there’s a lot of kids here, about 90 kids from Hawaii that are here with us, so I don’t know if they get that opportunity elsewhere,” Curry said in the article. “I think it’s a pretty cool experience for campers, for parents to enjoy the game of basketball and that’s what we’re here to do.”
A video from the GoldenStateWarriors Twitter account shows Curry pretending to be delivering pizza or selling Girl Scout cookies in order to surprise a few of the campers in their dorms.
