Utah's Hogle Zoo celebrated the seventh birthday of one of its largest residents on Saturday.

Zuri the African elephant was born at Hogle Zoo on Aug. 10, 2009 and has delighted guests of all ages throughout her life. This year, the party coincidentally fell on World Elephant Day, which was the perfect opportunity for zookeepers to educate patrons about the ongoing plight of elephants in the wild who are poached for their ivory tusks.

The local celebration included cake and presents for Zuri and activities for visitors that highlight conservation efforts.
