The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released photos of the new Fort Collins Colorado Temple in advance of the public open house beginning Aug. 19 and continuing through Sept. 10, during which time the temple will be open to the general public for guided tours every day except Sundays. A cultural celebration will be held on the campus of Colorado State University on Saturday, Oct. 15, and the temple will be dedicated Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016.

Latter-day Saints in Fort Collins have eagerly awaited the temple’s opening since President Thomas S. Monson announced plans for its construction during the April 2011 general conference. Construction began on the temple over two years later on Aug. 24, 2013.

“The 42,000-square-foot temple features art glass with a mountain flora motif reminiscent of Rocky Mountain vegetation,” according to Mormon Newsroom. “There is also an original oil-painting wall mural depicting local landscapes. The interior features stone from Iran and Turkey and decorative touches with the mountain flora design.”

The temple, the second in Colorado, will serve the 44,000 saints in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming.

Those wishing to visit the open house can make a reservation at www.templeopenhouse.lds.org and by calling 1-855-537-2000.
