SALT LAKE CITY — A Cadillac struck a sedan, a hatchback, a truck and a semitrailer Friday on I-15 near 1300 South in a crash that caused major delays, police said.

All northbound I-15 traffic in the area was shut down for more than an hour, snarling traffic, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred around 12:35 p.m. when the male driver of a Cadillac rear-ended a hatchback, caromed into a Toyota sedan as well as a Dodge Durango pulling a small trailer, then collided with a double-load semitrailer, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

The Cadillac driver "was following too close and did not notice that northbound traffic was completely stopped," the agency said in a statement. He was taken to a hospital with a broken collarbone.

The female driver of the Toyota sedan suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital.

A small amount of fuel leaked from the semitrailer, the UHP said. Emergency responders investigated and cleaned up the scene for about two hours.
