Editor's note: In anticipation of the 121st college football season in Utah, DeseretNews.com writer Jay Yeomans is ranking the 50 greatest Division I college football players of all time from the state of Utah. We're counting down the 50 days until Sept. 1 when Southern Utah at Utah and Weber State at Utah State kick off at 6 p.m. Rankings are based on what the player did during his college career.
29. Steve Clark, Utah, defensive tackle (1978-81)
Clark was an elite defensive lineman under coach Wayne Howard during his time on the hill. He was a two-time First-Team All-WAC honoree and a first-team All-American.
He was at his best during the 1981 season when he was a FWAA First-Team All-American after he totaled 62 tackles and team-leading 12 sacks on a defense that held three opponents scoreless.
For his Utah career, he registered 213 tackles, 20 sacks, two forced fumbles and two pass break-ups.
