SALT LAKE CITY — Another Utah Transit Authority schedule change day is just around the corner. On Sunday, select rail and bus schedules will be changed to adjust connections, better utilize resources and, in some cases, implement Proposition 1 improvements.
Four routes in Davis and Weber counties will see service improvements using Proposition 1 funds, and that funding will facilitate the addition of a new route in Davis County. The measure, which was on the November ballot, raised taxes by one penny for every $4 spent. The measure passed in 17 of 29 counties statewide.
As of Sunday, weekend schedules of all TRAX lines and the S-Line will be adjusted to improve transfers. The FrontRunner schedule will not be changed.
In Salt Lake City, many bus routes will see schedule adjustments to allow for improved connections and reliability.
Utah County bus routes will also see small changes, as routes are adjusted to improve reliability and to make connections with the new TRAX Blue Line schedule. A detour around the Orem WinCo on route 862 has been made permanent.
In Davis and Weber counties, routes 455 and 473 will add more trips. On route 640, Proposition 1 funds will be used to expand Saturday service hours and increase bus frequency to every 30 minutes.
Route 667, which runs from the Farmington FrontRunner station to Lagoon, will operate year-round Monday through Saturday to improve access to FrontRunner, Station Park shopping and the new University of Utah hospital.
Proposition 1 improvements will also be used to add a new route between Clearfield and Layton. Route 628, the Midtown Trolley, has been sponsored by local businesses and will be free to riders. Eventually, unique buses with a trolley-style look will be used on the route.
In addition, Saturday service will be added to several flex routes to give riders more travel options. Other small route and schedule changes will be implemented on select flex routes.
