SPANISH FORK — A teacher charged with raping one of her students now faces an additional charge accusing her of raping another student at her home.
Sarah Lindsay Lewis, 27, of Payson, was charged on Jan. 30 in 4th District Court with rape, a first-degree felony; tampering with a witness, a third-degree felony; and two counts of supplying alcohol to a minor, a class A misdemeanor.
Lewis, a dance and social studies teacher at Landmark High School in Spanish Fork, was accused of having sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old boy on Jan. 4 in her home.
Earlier this week, the Utah County Attorney's Office charged Lewis with providing alcohol and having illegal sexual relations with a second student, according to charging documents.
The amended charges include a second count of rape, a first-degree felony; and two more counts of supplying alcohol to a minor, a class A misdemeanor. The new charges state that before the Jan. 4 incident, Lewis had sex with another student at her house on Dec. 28.
Lewis began teaching at Landmark in 2014. Both of the alleged victims were students in her classroom at some point.
One teen told prosecutors that he started communicating with Lewis on Snapchat. He described it as "normal" chat during the course of the school year, until one day, "Lewis sent a picture of herself consuming alcohol and captioned a statement to the effect of, 'Let's party,'" the charges state.
Lewis is also accused of buying three 30-packs of beer for one of the victims and another teenager in late January after the boy gave her $100 for the purchase, the court documents state.
Lewis was removed from the classroom after the allegations surfaced last month and was put on "leave of absence."
Landmark is an alterative high school with approximately 340 students in grades 10 though 12.
According to her Facebook page, Lewis is married and has a young child. Court records show Lewis' husband filed for divorce a day after the first charges were filed.
