Utah State’s Melanie Oster has been named the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Co-Beam Specialist of the Week, it was announced Sunday by the league office.

It is the first time this year and first time in her career that the junior from Kenosha, Wisconsin, has earned MRGC weekly accolades.

Overall, this is the Aggies’ 11th MRGC weekly accolade in their third season in the league.

Oster recorded a career-high 9.900 on beam to tie for first on the event in Utah State’s MRGC dual meet against then-No. 7 Boise State last Friday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The title was the third of Oster’s career as the Aggies recorded a season-high 196.300, which ranks fifth all-time in school history and is the third-highest home score in program history.

Oster, whose beam score is tied for the 11th-best in school history, was one of six gymnasts to be honored by the MRGC this week.
