PROVO — BYU finalized its 2017 football schedule Thursday with an announcement that the game against Boise State has been moved from Saturday, Oct. 7 to Friday, Oct. 6.

That contest will be played at LaVell Edwards Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN at 8:15 p.m. MT.

Broadcast information and kickoff times for the rest of the schedule will be announced later.

The Cougars will play a 13-game regular-season schedule in 2017, starting with a home game on Aug. 26 against Portland State, followed by a neutral-site contest against Louisiana State at NRG Stadium, the home of the Houston Texan, in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff on Sept. 2.

NRG Stadium also hosted Super Bowl LI that saw the New England Patriots, with former BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy, rally for a dramatic victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

The schedule features six home games, six road games and one neutral-site game. Including LSU, the Cougars will face three teams that finished last season in the top 25 (No. 9 Wisconsin, No. 13 LSU, No. 23 Utah).

Six BYU opponents — LSU, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Utah, Boise State and Hawai’i — played in bowl games last year and five ended the year with bowl wins. Overall, opponents on BYU’s 2017 schedule represent six different conferences, including the Southeastern, Big Ten and Pac-12. The Cougars will play against teams from 11 different states — California, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah and Wisconsin.
