Here’s a look at the news for Monday, March 6.

Utah mom donates breast milk meant for deceased son

Utah mother Nicura Thompson said she and her family became stronger after their son, Colton Thompson, died six weeks after he was born, according to the Deseret News.

"We knew we were going to live off his strength," she told the Deseret News. "He fought so hard to live even the short time that he did, and even after he passed away we are stronger because of him."

Three months after Colton’s death, Thompson still pumps breast milk and donates it to the Mountain West Mothers' Milk Bank, a nonprofit that looks to help children in need, according to the Deseret News.

So far, Thompson has donated close to 4,000 ounces to the bank, pumping four times a day, according to the Deseret News.

She said she wished she could be with her son, but helping children in need gives her peace, the Deseret News reported.

"It's bittersweet, because I know I am helping them," she said.

Strongs winds shake Utah

Utahns across the Wasatch Front felt more than just a breeze over the weekend, as raucous winds from 45 to 72 mph rocked the valley, the Deseret News reported.

“Many Utahns were not deterred by the winds as they enjoyed the warm temperatures Sunday ahead of another cold front that is expected to bring snow on Monday,” according to the Deseret News. “As the afternoon wore on, however, wind gusts grew stronger and reports of toppled trees, downed fences and power outages became common across the valley.”

Jazz win buzzer-beater

We’re barely into March, and the Utah Jazz are already making March Madness happen.

According to the Deseret News, the Jazz defeated the Sacramento Kings 110-109 in a wild overtime game that finished when Jazz center Rudy Gobert tipped in the winning bucket with less than a second to go.

Gobert scored 16 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in the win, Deseret News reported.

The jubilation from the game-winning shot was at first short lived, as referees waved it off, thinking Gobert might have been goaltending, the Deseret News reported.

But upon further review, referees saw the tip was legal.

“That’s who Rudy is,” Jazz coach Quin Snyder told the Deseret News “We’ve talked about what a competitor he is. He doesn’t give up on plays. … There were a couple plays he made, before that last one, when he kept the ball alive and finished. He just competes.”

FBI director rejects Trump wiretapping claim

FBI Director James Comey rejected President Donald Trump’s claim that President Barack Obama had wiretapped Trump Tower before the 2016 election, according to the BBC.

Comey told the Justice Department to reject the claim, saying that Trump's accusations suggests the FBI broke U.S. law, according to BBC.

So far, there’s been no evidence that the wiretapping took place, according to the BBC.

Trump first made the accusations in tweets on Saturday morning.

Those close to Trump said he’s convinced the wiretapping occurred, Axios reported. Even if it didn’t, Trump’s sure he’ll find out more about which Obama holdovers are against him.

"The president just has a great nose for these things," a White House official told Axios. "It's the bureaucratic leaks — the deep state — that bother him most. Even if it turns out not to be true that they surveilled Trump Tower, he will have a very good point to make about the level of sabotage coming from Obama holdovers."
