Paul Walker’s mom said in an interview Thursday that she’s still grieving the loss of her son four years ago.
According to "Entertainment Tonight," Cheryl Walker said on “The Dr. Oz Show” that she “didn’t really want to” move on with life after her son died.
She said she appreciates her entire family, but her son’s death made her not want to wake up.
"I know I have this wonderful family, and grandchildren too — I felt guilty for even feeling like that, but I really, honestly, would wish that I didn’t have to wake up in the morning,” she said. "I would never have taken my life but I really felt that way. Because when you wake up, you have to realize it’s real, and you relive it all over again."
She said time hasn’t helped her heal, either.
"People think that you should just get over it, but they've never experienced it, so," Walker said, according to "Entertainment Tonight." "There are people that have, and my heart goes out to all of them. It's heartbreaking."
The family previously said their Mormon faith helped them deal with Paul Walker’s death, the Daily Mail reported.
"We have a strong Mormon faith and although Paul wasn’t practicing at the time, he always had a very strong Christian faith,” one family member told the Daily Mail.
Walker rose to fame for his role in the Fast and the Furious film series. He died in a car accident on Nov. 30, 2013, according to the Deseret News.
Walker, who grew up a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, left a legacy of charity. He once purchased a wedding ring for a U.S. soldier, the Deseret News reported.
Walker, who was survived by his teenage daughter Meadow, spoke highly of family.
“I’m into being a dad,” Walker said, according to imdb.com. “That’s where my focus is most of the time. I’m an actor — that’s my job, but it’s not my life.”
