SALT LAKE CITY — A one-time wealthy businessman in the middle of the political scandal involving two former Utah attorneys general had his parole terminated about 17 months early.
Marc Sessions Jenson earned enough credits for compliance that the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole ended his 36-month probation Monday, documents show.
"He's relieved," said Jenson's attorney, Helen Redd. "It's been a 12-year journey since he was charged."
Jenson served 50 months of a 10-year prison sentence for selling unregistered securities. He was first charged in 2005.
Jenson claimed that former Attorneys General Mark Shurtleff and John Swallow shook him down for money and favors. Both were charged with crimes related to Jenson's accusations.
Prosecutors ultimately dropped the case against Shurtleff. A jury acquitted Swallow on all charges earlier this year.
