An historic organ console and artifacts relating to the construction of the Tabernacle organ are part of a new exhibit, “The Salt Lake Tabernacle Organ: Celebrating 150 Years!” It opens Friday at the LDS Church History Museum.

The iconic pipe organ debuted Oct. 6, 1867, at the general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, according to a news release.

The exhibit also includes personal objects from past organists, a timeline and a kiosk with information about the current organists.

The exhibit will be open at the museum, 45 N. West Temple, through April 2018.
