Elder Orson Hyde was the most famous resident of Spring City, Sanpete County, Utah.
He was called to the first Quorum of the Twelve in Kirtland, Ohio, in 1835. His faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints became challenged for a while during the Missouri period of LDS history. Once that was resolved, he served a mission to the Holy Land.

He spent the last years of his life presiding over the Latter-day Saints in Spring City. His stone home there is still extant but privately owned. That home is frequently sought out by interested persons, but it is only one of approximately 50 homes constructed in Spring City during the 19th century.
One extant structure was once used as a school and an office by Elder Hyde.
The grave of Orson Hyde is also found in Spring City. It in the cemetery immediately west of town on state highway 117, not the smaller cemetery in the town itself.
