Jack Stockton, father of Utah Jazz great John Stockton, died Saturday at the age of 89.
"Jack was a valued member of the extended Jazz family, and his loss will be felt by many," the Utah Jazz said in a team statement on Sunday. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Stockton family during this difficult time."
A service is scheduled for Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Spokane, Washington, KREM reported.
Jack was a longtime owner of Jack and Dan’s tavern in Spokane. Jack and his partner, Dan Crowley III, bought the tavern in 1961, the Spokesman-Review reported. It was gathering place of sorts for Jazz fans. A few fans even make the trek from Utah to the bar, which was documented in a short film. Jack sold his share of Jack and Dan's in 2006.
