President Donald Trump made a typo late Tuesday afternoon. And since that time, it’s become a meme.
As BuzzFeed News reported, Trump sent out a tweet that read, “Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”
Trump never fixed the typo in a new tweet. Instead, he released a follow-up tweet encouraging Twitter members to offer their own definition.
Who can figure out the true meaning of "covfefe" ??? Enjoy!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 31, 2017
According to CNN, Trump’s tweet and typo are just more signs of him presenting an authentic image of himself.
“The tweets represent Trump at his most authentic and defiant, lashing out when he feels he is under attack, and appeared to reflect a belief that only he, and not his staff, is qualified to speak in his own defense,” according to CNN.
But the internet can do nothing but speculate about the word.
Twitter did its best to figure it out.
I think Trump was trying to write, "despite the negative press coverage..." accidentally hit sent after mucking up & got distracted.— Jeet Heer (@HeerJeet) May 31, 2017
I like to imagine that "covfefe" is the exact moment someone tackled Trump and wrestled the phone out of his hand. https://t.co/96MAwttvdL— b-boy bouiebaisse (@jbouie) May 31, 2017

Celebrities also joined in on the joking, according to USA Today.
what makes me saddest is that I know I'll never write anything funnier than #covfefe— Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) May 31, 2017
I have always depended on the covfefe of strangers— Matt Lucas (@RealMattLucas) May 31, 2017
As for what it means, we may never know.
