Social media users recently decided to put a modern twist on Boy Scout merit badges.

There are more than 2.3 million youths registered for Boy Scouts of America programs, according to a recent annual report. About 919,000 adults are registered to lead these youths.

There are now more than 135 merit badges for the Boy Scouts of America, including badges for textile work, welding and traffic safety.

Users of Twitter have created new merit badges online with a modern twist, with the hashtag #ModernDayBoyScoutBadges.
