Suzanne Lucas is a freelance writer who moved from Utah to Switzerland.
And it's been a tough move, she wrote on Inc.com this week.
Lucas, who hails from St. George, wrote that she spent her entire life in southern Utah. Her husband proved to be an adventurer, which worked well in that part of the Beehive State.
Time spent with her husband encouraged her to take her own adventures, she said, like moving away to Switzerland.
“This is how I landed in Europe, and while it's pretty vanilla as far as adventuring goes, living in a country where I didn't speak the language (I do now) and trying to figure out a culture that places an extremely high priority on proper scarf usage, all while trying to build a career and care for a family here was extremely challenging,” she wrote.
Lucas wrote that she faced financial struggles, since she still had to pay taxes to the U.S. while overseas. She also still freelances for American companies, but has to buy products in Switzerland, which has a higher cost of living, she wrote.
Her life as a freelancer also makes it hard to find vacation time, she wrote.
