MONA, Juab County — A fire caused by "people shooting exploding targets in dry grass" had been extinguished by 9 p.m. Saturday, according to Juab County officials.

The fire between Mona and Rocky Ridge was about 5 acres as of 7 p.m., with 11 firetrucks on scene, the Juab County Sheriff's Office reported.

Citations were issued to the individuals shooting targets, and the case is being turned over to the county attorney's office to be screened for potential charges.
