Sixteen years ago today, the world changed.

President Donald Trump honored the victims of Sept. 11 on Monday, speaking from the Pentagon with his wife, Melania Trump, NBC News reported.

"Our values will endure. Our people will thrive," Trump said. "Our nation will prevail and the memory of our loved ones will never, ever die."

Trump also championed the United States’ strength, despite hardships.

"The terrorists who attacked us thought they could incite fear and weaken our spirit, but America cannot be intimidated," Trump said. "And those who try will soon join the long list of vanquished enemies who dared to test our mettle."

On Monday, CNN shared footage from filmmakers Jules Naudet and Gedeon Naudet, who filmed footage on 9/11, giving viewers an inside glimpse of the building.

"Their footage -- raw, chaotic and nearly inconceivable -- offers a rare look into a day that continues to haunt the nation," according to CNN.

The footage went on to be used for a documentary, “9/11.”
