SALT LAKE CITY — Marikh Mathias barely survived the latest episode of “The Bachelor.”
The Salt Lake City native was the final contestant to receive a rose on Monday night’s episode, surviving for yet another week along with fellow Beehive State contestant Maquel Cooper.
Mathias' last-gasp survival capped off a night that showed both Mathias and Cooper waiting in the wings and avoiding major drama.
Both Mathias and Cooper began the episode on a group date with this season’s bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr., who asked the bachelorettes to compete in a professional wrestling match. All contestants were given gimmicks and wrestling attire to put on a show.
Two former Glamorous Ladies of Wrestling (“GLOW”) performers appeared to teach the contestants how to wrestle and entertain as a professional wrestler.
During the wrestling date event, which was held in front of a live audience, Cooper appeared as The Lunch Lady, using a cafeteria tray as a prop in her wrestling match.

Mathias, meanwhile, took a less serious approach in her wrestling match, dancing with her opponent in the ring for the majority of the bout.
Mathias and Cooper spent the rest of the episode sitting in the background, often appearing on camera for side-eye glances and reaction shots for the episode’s main drama, which centered on how the aggressive Krystal Nielson sought out Luyendyk’s heart.
At one point, Nielson spoke with Mathias exclusively, telling the Salt Lake City native that she’s not trying to be as villainous as she seems.
At the end of the night, neither Cooper and Mathias were among the first to receive a rose. Cooper received her rose about midway through the rose ceremony.
Meanwhile, Mathias sweated it out until the end. She and Bibiana Julian, who has been relatively vocal on the show’s earlier episodes, were among the final two contestants without the rose.
Mathias said she would think about “what could have been if I stayed” if she were to be eliminated.
But her name was called, surviving the night once again.
Cooper and Mathias will return next week for week four of “The Bachelor.”
According to Variety, next week’s episode will take place at Lake Tahoe.
