NEPHI — A 27-year-old dump truck driver died after his vehicle collided with a train in Juab County Tuesday afternoon.
There are no crossing arms or warning lights at the crossroads in Nephi, the Juab County Sheriff's Office said in a prepared statement.
Deputies arrived about 1 p.m. to find that David Stubbs, 27, of Mona, had died of his injuries. He worked for Taurus Plumbing & Excavating in Nephi, according to the statement.
The commercial truck was traveling west on Sheep Lane Drive when it was struck by the northbound train, the sheriff's office said.
The conductor and four others who were aboard emerged without injury, though they were "visibly shaken," the sheriff's office reported. The train with three empty cargo cars sustained only minor damage.
An investigation was ongoing as the sheriff's office awaited autopsy results.
