SALT LAKE CITY — The ride-sharing service Lyft is offering a number of discount codes nationwide for New Year’s Eve.
You can have a free ride from Uber and Lyft when you download the app. So if you’ve never used the app, sign up and receive an instant discount.
For those who need a ride home tonight (or simply don't want to drive) and already have one of the apps, we’ve collected a number of options from across multiple states.
Lyft discount codes:
Utah: Lyft has offered a $5 discount for one ride. You can download and claim your reward on Lyft’s website. The service launched the discount in accordance with the new 0.05 DUI law in the Beehive State.
Louisiana: Use the code “RIDESMARTLA” for $5 off fares.
Texas: Use “NYEPLAN18” on the app from 8 a.m. on Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 at 4 a.m. for the discount, Mashable reports.
Arizona: Those living in Maricopa County can use “JOY18” for 20 percent off two rides.
Illinois: Those in Chicago can get $25 off with the code “JDNYE18.” It only applies up to $5.
Uber discounts:
New York: Users in Albany, New York, can use the code “RIDESAFE518” to receive $20 off their first ride, CBS Albany reports.
Michigan: Those living in Macomb, Wayne, Washtenaw, Oakland, Bay, Kent or Genesee counties can be reimbursed up to $35 by emailing a copy of their receipt and a photo of their license to saferidehome@davidchristensenlaw.com, WXYZ reports.
Oregon: Use the code “SAFERIDE2018” to save $5 off all Dec. 31 trips. It works from 8 p.m. local time to 3 a.m. local time on Jan. 1, 2019, KVAL 13 reports.
Florida: Miami users can get 25 percent off (up to $10 off) for rides from Dec. 15 to Jan. 1. Use the code “MIAMIRIDES18” to receive the discount.
Oklahoma: Those in Oklahoma City can earn $10 off their Uber rides by filling out the End DUI Oklahoma website.
