BEAVER — A woman was killed in a collision with a semitrailer on I-15 Thursday.

The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. about 13 miles north of Beaver. A semitrailer hauling approximately 160 pigs drifted off the left shoulder for an unknown reason, through the median into oncoming traffic and struck a Kia Optima, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The Kia came to rest at the bottom of a 100-foot embankment.

Jaime Demille, 41, of Cedar City, was killed on impact with the semitrailer, according to the UHP. The semi driver and passenger were treated at a local hospital with injuries not considered life threatening. The UHP said many of the pigs were killed or severely injured when the truck rolled.

Investigators were looking at "illness/fatigue" as a possible factor as to why the semitrailer went into oncoming traffic.
