After a near two month break between meets, the Dixie State women’s swimming team returned to the pool and combined to set 19 season and all-time bests at the University of San Diego Shootout held Saturday at the USD Sports Center Pool. DSU was the lone Division II participant in a meet that featured Division I schools Nevada, San Jose State and the host Toreros.

Freshman Kelsea Wright turned in the best overall finish of the day for the Trailblazers with a second-place result in the 200-yard free at 1:56.99. Meanwhile, sophomore Miriam Gonzalez clocked the third-fastest 50 back time in school history with a preliminary time of 31.56, and junior Audrey Hyde posted the fourth-fastest mark in the 50 fly with a final heat 27.89.

In addition, sophomore Hannah Bodkin recorded the seventh-best 50 breast time in program history with a final heat 32.55, while the team of Hyde, freshman Kenzie Chesler, Gonzalez and Wright placed fifth in the 400 free relays at 3:44.64 (No. 10 all-time at DSU).

Dixie State will wrap up the 2018-19 regular season with a home dual meet against fellow RMAC member Western Colorado on Saturday, Jan. 19. The meet will be held at the Washington City Community Center beginning at 2 p.m.
