CORVALLIS, Ore. — No. 15 Utah struck quick and never let up in dominating Oregon State 52-7 at Reser Stadium on Saturday night.

The Utes (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) were coming off a bye but showed no rust in building a 21-0 lead through one quarter and 35-0 at halftime in cruising to the win.

Here are three takeaways that defined this game.

Efficiency on offense

The Utes made offense look easy Saturday against the Beavers, scoring touchdowns on four of their first five drives and putting up six offensive touchdowns.

Quarterback Tyler Huntley had an efficient night, completing 14 of 17 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns to finish with a 243.2 pass efficiency rating.

Running back Zack Moss also put up eye-popping stats, rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns — highlighted by a 91-yard touchdown run, the third-longest run in Utah history — on just five carries. He averaged 24.2 yards per carry.

In the first half, Utah averaged 13.9 yards per play. While that play dropped to 8.4 by game’s end, the Utes racked up an impressive 503 yards of total offense, showing balance with 247 passing yards and 256 rushing yards.

Defense dominates

One week after scoring 48 points in a win over UCLA, Oregon State (2-4, 1-2 Pac-12) was held to one score by the Utes.

The Beavers put up just 217 yards of total offense and converted just 2 of 13 third downs, as Utah kept OSU to an average 3.4 yards per play.

Utah also got the first interception off of Beaver quarterback Jake Luton this season, as linebacker Devin Lloyd intercepted a tipped pass in the second quarter and returned it 64 yards for a touchdown.

Setting up a showdown with Sun Devils

Utah’s most complete game of the season sets the Utes up for a potential top 15 matchup with Arizona State next week that will be important in the Pac-12 South race.

The No. 18 Sun Devils rallied with 14 points in the fourth quarter to beat Washington State 38-34 Saturday, including four touchdowns from freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Utah and Arizona State will play at 4 p.m. MDT next Saturday, Oct. 19 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
