“Thor: Love and Thunder” director Taika Waititi confirmed that a popular character from “Thor: Ragnarok” will return for the upcoming sequel.
Korg, a blue rock-like creature voiced by Waititi in the third film, will make a comeback in the new “Thor” movie. He announced the decision to bring back the character during “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Wednesday night.
“My character is coming back, Korg,” he said. “Thank you. Thank you so much for that reaction.”
Korg briefly appeared in “Avengers: Endgame,” teaming up with Thor to take on gamers in Fortnite.
“This also probably means that Korg isn’t going into another Marvel movie without his trusty sidekick Miek,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
Korg was a character of comic relief in both “Avengers: Endgame” and “Thor: Ragnorak,” breaking up the tension from the films.
Marvel and Disney announced “Thor: Love and Thunder” this past summer at San Diego Comic Con. The film will mark the return of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) to the franchise as she looks to become the female version of Thor, which was a popular storyline in the comic books.
Waititi was briefly rumored to direct the next “Thor” film before it was made official at the SDCC announcement.
