SALT LAKE CITY — It’s a wait-and-see situation regarding the health of Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley. The senior, who was hobbled by an apparent calf injury in the second quarter and was sidelined for a couple of minutes, left Saturday’s 21-3 win over Arizona State for good after three quarters.

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham told reporters he couldn’t give an immediate update on Huntley.

“No. Not right now because we’ve got to wait until tomorrow. A lot of times you don’t know about these injuries until tomorrow. This is one of them,” Whittingham said. “Some are obvious and you know right away, but this is one that we’ll have to wait and see how he responds and what it looks like tomorrow.”

Huntley was slow to get up after getting hit on a play that resulted in an ASU penalty for unnecessary roughness with 5:30 remaining in the first half. He was replaced by backup Drew Lisk for a few minutes before returning after getting medical clearance.

“He’s a competitive kid. He’s a fierce competitor as well, and he was bound and determined to go out and finish,” said Whittingham, who noted that Huntley later took another hit to the same leg and the decision was made to shut him down for the night.

Huntley wound up completing 12-of-19 passes for 171 yards. He also rushed for 32 yards before Jason Shelley took over at quarterback for the balance of the game. Huntley’s streak of consecutive passes thrown without an interception was snapped after 149 attempts. The throws include two from last season.

Arizona State cornerback Chase Lucas put an end to the nation’s longest-active FBS run without a pick in the third quarter.
