A video of a young trick-or-treater has gone viral for a heartwarming reason, according to The Washington Post.

Eight-year-old Jackson Champagne was trick-or-treating in Maryland when he came across a common Halloween scenario — he visited a house with an empty candy bowl on the front porch. Instead of simply moving on to the next house, however, Champagne reached into his bag of Halloween candy, the Post reported.

Champagne put two large handfuls of candy into the empty bowl, a selfless action that the security camera of the home captured on video, according to the Post.

“Caught this on our Nest camera,” Leslie Hodges, the homeowner, posted with the video on Facebook. “This has got to give hope to everyone that there are still amazing people in this world. What a selfless act from this little guy! ❤️ Kudos to his parents!!!”

The video has been viewed over 9 million times on Facebook.

“That’s the type of kid Jackson is. He’s always giving,” Ty Champagne, Jackson Champagne’s father, told The York News-Times. “He’s a very sweet, kind and soft-spoken kid. I’ve never seen a moment where he acts out negatively toward humanity.”

Hodges and her husband are planning to meet with Champagne and his family this weekend, so that they can give him a gift to show how touched they were by his act, according to the Post.
