A video of President Donald Trump snapping away House Democrats has gone viral on Twitter.

What it shows: The video — tweeted out by President Donald Trump’s campaign, per The Hill — shows President Donald Trump’s head on top of Thanos’ body in a scene from “Avengers: Endgame.” The music swells as Thanos says, “I am envitable” — a key line from “Endgame” that Thanos delivers to signify that his decision to snap away half the universe would always happen in any timeline.

  • The caption to the video reads: “House Democrats can push their sham impeachment all they want. President Trump’s re-election is inevitable.”

Keep in mind: Two big notes about this scene that might not help Trump’s argument:

  • As New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman noted, “Thanos was about to die in this scene.”
  • In “Endgame,” Thanos’ second snap doesn’t work. Instead, Iron Man took the Infinity Stones and snapped to stop Thanos.

Bottomline: The tweeted video suggests Trump’s reelection is inevitable. The scenes from “Endgame” would indicate that might not be the case.

  • Historian Kevin Kruse: “So you’re arguing that Trump is Thanos (“The Mad Titan”) who wants to kill half of all living things, but in the end winds up defeated and dying, taking all of his sycophantic followers down with him?”
  • Danielle Ames: “I guess the Trump campaign didn’t actually watch Avengers End Game. Spoiler alert: It didn’t end well for Thanos.”

Bigger picture: Trump’s face was doctored into a separate comic book film scene in October.

  • The graphic video shows Trump’s face superimposed on characters from “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” according to the Deseret News.
  • The scene showed the character going through a church killing other characters. In the video, several of the characters’ faces were replaced by media entities and public enemies of Trump.
