The creator of the popular “Avengers: Endgame” villain Thanos isn’t too happy that President Donald Trump has been compared to the Marvel Comics supervillain.
The setup: Trump’s 2020 campaign Twitter account shared a video that superimposed Trump’s head on the body of Thanos in a scene from “Avengers: Endgame,” according to the Deseret News.
- In the film’s scene, Thanos snaps his fingers to eliminate the entire universe. In the Trump parody, he snaps his fingers and House Democrats, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, disappear.
Reaction: In an Instagram post, Jim Starlin, the creator of Thanos, slammed the president for using the video.
“After my initial feeling of being violated, seeing that pompous dang fool using my creation to stroke his infantile ego, it finally struck me that the leader of my country and the free world actually enjoys comparing himself to a mass murderer. How sick is that?
“These are sad and strange times we are going through. Fortunately all things, even national nightmares, eventually come to an end.”
That said: The scene actually doesn’t fair well for Thanos. He died immediately after that scene and he was willing to give his life to the cause of eliminating the population.
